The Thieves About with TuneSquad and Howlin’ Roosters

Door Time:

The Thieves About don’t pretend to be anything but a high energy rock band.Born on the West Coast in San Diego in late 2017, The Thieves About brings a ‘90s inspired guitar-driven feel to original modern rock. The band’s four members — J Scott Gavin (vocals and guitar), Brian Ulery (drums), John Reikes (guitar), and Andrew Williams (bass) — music is ‘’an intriguing mix of the sublime, if not quite ridiculous then certainly unpretentious and gloriously dumb in the smartest of ways,” according to 369 Media. Listeners might be reminded of past and current heroes like Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World, and Sponge.

Howlin' Roosters and TuneSquad

“The Howlin’ Roosters hail from Southern California and blend punk rock ‘n’ roll with Americana country, paying homage to a variety of past influences while still attempting to create a sound that is original and authentic. The members of The Howlin’ Roosters have played in a variety of musical ensembles and styles, including folk and country, Straight Edge hardcore, punk rock, rock ‘n’ roll, pop punk, doom metal, surf reggae, etc. This variety of past musical experiences indefinitely has shaped how The Howlin’ Roosters write, play, and perform their original tunes. The easiest way to try to conceptualize The Roosters’ sound is to think of Johnny Cash and Tom Petty sitting at a hobo camp bonfire, eating beans out of a can, while getting together with GG Allin, and Mike Ness, and Hank Williams, and Bruce Springsteen, and Iggy Pop, and Travis Barker, and John Bonham, and Townes Van Zant, and Joshua Homme, and Elvis Presley, writing some songs on an acoustic guitar and a stand up bass. Incorporate a bit of distortion, the crack of a snare drum, and boom! you have it! The Howlin’ Roosters.“

Punkture takes you back to the 80’s hardcore scene…while also recognizing music that surrounded San Diego’s “Momentum” generation of 90’s surf & skate culture.  Come experience songs that pay tribute to the Misfits, Dead Kennedys, Operation Ivy, Rancid, NOFX, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Propagandhi, Unwritten Law, and many others.
