On a warm afternoon at Windansea Beach in 2009, singer Danielle Spade and local guitar player Carlos Rodriguez, both La Jolla High Alum, had a chance reunion. Ideas were shared, energy was exchanged and they decided to put their musical heads together and create a musical partnership in what would become known as Stone Horse.
With British and American rockers of the 70's as their guiding light, they began to put pen to paper and fingers to fret board. While adhering to their Rock n Roll roots and tapping into their own life experience, a hard driving, ground pounding yet sophisticated style evolved and despite many frustrating line up changes, endures today.
The catchy, driving 10 song CD entitled "GRIT" was released in February of 2014. GRIT was nominated "Best Rock Album" in 2014 by The San Diego Music Awards, and their southern rocker ballad "Remember When" received a nomination in 2015 by The Indie Music Channel. It is also in the top 3 nominations for "Global Eye Best Song" by The Colorado Rock Awards to be held in Denver, CO September 2016.
Not unlike the neighborhoods that make up their city, the band's forthcoming second full-length studio release, "Nobody Rides for Free", is a musical melting pot blending influences of Blues, Southern, Ska and even a bit o' Country twang! However, doing what they do best at the end of the day, the result is good old rock n roll! Their just released first single, "Look What I've Done" is to be followed by a music video slated for release in April 2016.
With Dave Steinman on drums, Arthur Nobilette on guitar and Jeffrey Bloom on bass, look for Stone Horse saddling up to get out of the stable and out on the road!
