Psychic Vacuum is a San Diego based acoustic duo, featuring saxophone, flute, acoustic guitar, drums and soulful vocals. Dan...iel Nielsen (woodwinds and vocals) and Howard Coven (guitar, drums and vocals) have been playing and writing music together in various incarnations since 1992 and have distilled the best of their experiences into Psychic Vacuum. The duo remains true to the acoustic tradition, blending the natural sounds of the instruments and textured qualities of their vocal harmonies. The band utilizes diverse rhythms and leads while exhibiting dynamics from a quiet flute phrase to the rollicking groove of a much larger band. The lyrics of the songs hint at unseen dimensions while relating stories that illustrate the conflicts and contradictions of everyday life.
