DOAH LEE

he first time we played together as a trio on Venice Beach (a weekly tradition), the love that felt for one another and from the community there, as well as our artistic influences and skills gelling, is a feeling that cannot be replaced by anything else. Our now good friend, Ken, a street vendor and local on the boardwalk, invited us to come and play on what he has dubbed Venice’s “Hippie Hill,” where he sets up his shop. Since moving there, our audience has grown and we are more visible to locals and tourists alike who resonate with our creative output and synergy. That spirit of being available and community-minded has given us a dedicated group of listeners that we can count on every week. That authenticity and spontaneity, for us, harkens back to the bygone music and art renaissance of the 60’s. As a psychedelic rock band, we deeply relate to and long for the kind of movement and scenes that existed and were appreciated by the public at that time. We want to be a countercultural current in Los Angeles that challenges the ways artists are taken advantage of by the industry that have become commonplace, from pay-to-play schemes to creativity stifling contracts. The more freedom that we have been able to embody in the way we create, the more we have been able to connect with our individual artistic spirits. We want that for every band.
